  • Matthew Thomas Sommers is no ordinary pharmacist. Born on May 18, 1986, in Forrest City, Iowa, he resides in Eagan, Minnesota. A pharmacist by profession, he's also a prolific medical writer and editor. Remarkably, he juggles this dynamic career alongside his responsibilities as a loving husband to Erica and a dedicated father to their two daughters.

His educational journey reflects a relentless quest for knowledge. In 2011, he secured his pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, setting the stage for an illustrious career. Beyond academics, he built valuable, real-world pharmacy skills, notably in behavioral health management. Over a period spanning more than a decade, he gained a wealth of expertise, including clinical practice and managerial roles.

Sommers's spirit of innovation and an insatiable thirst to push boundaries set him apart. Unlike many pharmacists who might choose a more traditional path, Sommers seized an opportunity to start a pharmacy from the ground up. He demonstrated an extraordinary mix of courage and resolve in this entrepreneurial endeavor. His commitment to education and mentorship is also evident; he serves as a preceptor, guiding the next generation of pharmacists toward professional maturity. He even channels this educational passion into medical writing and editing, helping laypeople confidently take control of their health.

His professional path took another exciting turn when he expanded his reach into clinical work, zeroing in on behavioral health. This career pivot underscores his willingness to explore unfamiliar terrains and broaden his healthcare toolkit. Never one to be tied down by convention, he continues to enrich his skills and knowledge base in the evolving healthcare landscape.

It's challenging to encapsulate the full breadth of Matt's accomplishments and ambitions. Yet, what stands out is his ability to maintain a fulfilling work-life balance, excel in multiple professional avenues, and remain committed to lifelong learning and community well-being. It's a blend of qualities that makes him an extraordinary pharmacist and a remarkable individual.
